Small Town Big Boner

way too many people to thank. i'm not exactly sure what is happening in this town lately but one thing is for sure: this is a tight-knit group of legendary people. there are hard-working, talented, supportive superstars growing out of every sidewalk. so many people have been helping me book shows, and coming to them. the LadySoal Sunshine Video Viewing/Release Party is in 2 days and already there are countless people involved, in relation to both audience and participants (which we are aiming to make synonymous). i've watched a TON of new projects spring up in Ames lately, and i am so proud to be a part of it all. the government is said to be 'building an army' (not going there) but I like to think we are, too. in ames, and around the world. to all of you living effing legends. cheers.

Peggy Noland KC

Peggy Noland is a fashion designer and installation artist, functioning out of Kansas City, Missourri. I heard about Peggy through my fascination that a band like Ssion could exist so close to home. Peggy styles and designs for them, along with CSS, Tilly and the Wall, and Beth Ditto. She uses her showroom storefront as an exploding advertisement by constantly reworking the space to project a new concept. I interviewed Peggy, and this is my favorite quote from our conversation:

"There are a million of me in the world: fashion designers working with bands with crazy hair that wear neon clothes. Its not what I do. Its how I do it. And maybe where i do it from!"

And here's a Ssion video, just cuz I like it..

Holly Van Voast, Lens Jockey

Bumbling around in New York City nightlife for a week, I kept running into this stunning and talented character, Holly Van Voast. In the midst of 8 foot tall drag queens, the guys from 300, and the entire cast of Warriors, here's Holly with her wild-ass blond fro, her sleaze and thank you mustachio, and her Nikon D90, WITH HER TITS OUT, climbing around the mass of human glitter and gutter, on her hands and knees for the PERFECT SHOT of the craziness. This is a WORKing girl.

BOOTYTRONIC Presents HEROES AND VILLAINS

Are you a Hero or a Villain? More importantly, which will you be on Friday, March 11?

Bootytronic is challenging you to use your time wisely and come up with a superhero, supervillain, superYOU costume for the night, and I have faith in your freakiness.

Adults (21+) free before 11, $5 after and minors $5 all night.

WHAT AM I GOING TO WEAR?!!

Summer of '04

Summer of '04 is strangely good. It kind of reminds me of a french City Island. Whoever styled the movie is a genius, incorporating the iconic modern sailing look we've all been wearing for a few years now as real life (and totally pulling it off)(in 2006). Imagine cut off skinnys, boat or canvas shoes, wind blown swoop bang (but actually from the wind), etc, in the European countryside. The story is simple but sincere which is brilliant in my book but might not be for everyone.

Nsok - Underwater Tax Invasion (Official)

I have known this man for quite some time and have never grown tired of his taste. Once when I was a teenager he put out a mixtape with I Monster, the Streets, and Lolita Storm (which I still have). I mean, Nsok was DIY before we could spell it. CHANGE MY LIFE WHY DONTCHA. The video and single are from his new album "Make Your Own God", and here is his info..

"The digital version of the album is available from the Filter Label at all major online download sites. Learn more about New Systems of Knowledge at analogeelephant and Aeco.tv."
